I upgraded to Adobe Master Collection CS6 yesterday and thought I’d share a few thoughts and tips I’ve gathered so far. And I’m aware of how cheesy this post’s title is, it’s ok. Eventually the Queen references will die, no thanks to me. I’m sorry. (Read More)

Thankfully (well... this depends upon who you ask) Apple dropped their Final Cut ball and Adobe swooped in to save the day. Now, I've only used FCP a little, mostly cuz I'm PC based and FCP never made a windows version. (Read More)

In this industry, you have to earn your stripes. Avid had to displace flat bed film editors. Apple had to get movies under its belt. With Adobe, it's been a different trajectory. If you look at motion graphics or visual effects, everyone thinks of After Effects and Photoshop, but Adobe has a different brand presence with Premiere Pro. Back when we first introduced Premiere Pro, there were of course some aspects that made editors happy, but other things related to how it worked or performance tha (Read More)

WOW! When I first got a look at the new HP Z1 I fell in love. Over the past year I've become a big fan of iMacs with Thunderbolt. The new HP Z1 delivers on this and more. You get you choice of FOUR levels of Quadro cards that can be added, including our go to GPU for professional post, the Quadro4000! (Read More)

Okay, what’s a Tesla card? Basically, it’s a Quadro card without the display outputs – essentially, a headless GPU processing powerhouse. I wanted to take what I had done with the NVIDIA Quadro card comparison and apply the same tests to the Maximus card set I have. Read on, to learn the results. (Read More)

GPU acceleration gives the same level of render quality as Maximum Render Quality, even if you don’t check the Maximum Render Quality box.

But instead of a performance hit, you gain a 6-7x performance boost.

Let me start-off by saying that Jan Ozer is my favourite video technology writer and speaker. I first met him in Jacksonville, FL at the defunct 4EVERGroup’s Video ’07 video conventions, where we were both speakers. Steve Nathans, EventDV Magazine’s editor-in-chief, was also th (Read More)
