Buying a Canon 7D is a smart move well done, don't second guess yourself with, should I have got the new 550/T2i for half the price? The Canon 7D can do so much more on the photo side and it is tried and tested on the video side, there has to be some downside to a new camera for half the price. (Read More)

Besides all the advantages and possibilities shooting with a HDSLR offers, there are some major drawbacks. For me the biggest problems are: rolling shutter (but even the red has it), no audio control and the too contrasty, over-compressed, 4:2:0 h264 output. You can create or download a “flat-look” profile for your camera, which basically eliminates contrast by lifting blacks and crushing highlights when the camera sensor processes the image before compressing it. It's hard to believe another year has gone by. I think 2009 was one of the most challenging years for our industry. The troubled US economy created budget problems for videographers, video editors and producers on every level. In today's economy every Penney counts and before we invest in new technology, we have to be sure of the benefits.

If you are reading this article, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that you have a big screen HD TV in your house. Now that you have it, you wonder how you ever watched sports or the latest action movie or a documentary or even the cooking channel without it. This will probably go down as one of our most successful NAB shows ever! We've picked up several new lines, the most significant one I can tell you about is AJA, but we will have more exciting news to share with you as the spring heads into summer. We also saw the launch of a new product line-up form Matrox, giving them affordable HD I/O devices at every price/ user level.
