G-Technology by Hitachi is now shipping the latest addition to the G-SPEED family of high-performance redundant storage systems designed for professional video and photographic applications, G-SPEED Q.  The 4-bay desktop G-SPEED Q features a quad-interface providing FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 and eSATA connectivity to a host computer, with two RAID configurations available, RAID-0 and RAID-5. Performance in the region of 200MB/sec is available through the eSATA connection.

The G-Tech G-SPEED Q is designed with creative applications in mind, specially designers, photographers and video editors requiring higher storage capacities on their desktop that meet the performance needs of their workflow, while simultaneously ensuring that their data is safe and secure.  The compact and quiet desktop enclosure will be available in two capacities initially, 4TB and 8TB, with both models featuring the latest industry-leading 7,200 RPM SATA-II hard drive mechanisms by Hitachi.

Gary Bettan of  Videoguys.com had this to say about the new G-Speed Q:
"The new G-Speed Q is the natural next step in the G-Tech product line. It combines the reliability and throughput of the industries top rated G-RAID product line in a quiet and stylish 4-Bay enclosure that supports both RAID-0 or RAID-5 for redundancy. Best of all it is a breeze to install because the RAID technology is integrated into the unit, so it doesn't require any special controller card hardware. Just plug it into your PC or Mac, Desktop or Laptop,  via your choice of eSata, Firewire or USB 2 port. This gives you versatitily, portability and performance at a price level that is unmatched.

We recommend using G-Speed Qs with Avid Media Composer, Adobe CS5, Apple Final Cut Studio, Sony Vegas Pro 9 and all our video editing solutions. For best results choose RAID-5 to combine outstanding throughput capable of mutiple streams of compressed HD footage with data protection. This means that should a drive fail, you won't lose any data or any work, and best of all you can continue editing!"
